This resource includes mats to be printed and used for comparing units of measurement. They are suitable for Foundation Year/Kindergarten. This is a hands-on activity looking at longest/shortest, tallest/shortest, heavier/lighter, biggest/smallest, full/empty, more/less, hot/cold.  They could be used with assistance at a preschool level.

INSTRUCTIONS

Print and laminate the mats. Use the cut-outs provided or collect real leaves, real pencils, etc.  You can also cut out images from magazines to compare.

We have provided one completed mat for each activity. These are great to hang around the classroom after completing the activity. We have also provided blank mats to use with items you choose.

Directly compare two objects with a measurable attribute in common, to see which object has "more of"/"less of" the attribute, and describe the difference. For example, directly compare the heights of two children and describe one child as taller/shorter.
